User's guide.

When the application is run for the first time, a small window appears allowing us to select the language:

After selecting the language and pressing the OK button, the main window appears. Above you can see another new window called complements (to know more about that window read here):

The main window contains a toolbar, in the upper side, from which you have access to the different functions.

The number of buttons in the toolbar may vary according to the task that is being acomplished at any given time. In the previous image all the available icons are shown, but you cannot expect to see them all at the same time. Initially, you will see the following ones only

The function of each of these icons is explained next:

Start page. Shows news and information about the application. An Internet connection is required.

Connect. Retreaves from the server the last number of our electronic magazine. An Internet connection is required.

Previous issues. This button is only visible when one issue of the electronic magazine is loaded. When pressing on it, all the previous issues are shown. An Internet connection is required.

Access to the postal Meeting Rooms.

Access to the Online Meeting Rooms.

Games replay in local mode. Allows the user to obtain the contents to be displayed directly from the local PC's hard drive. Thorough this procedure, one can read a file with chess games in PGN format, or an HTML page. Internet connection is not necessary here. Below the chessboard, a list will be shown with the games contained in the PGN file; to replay anyone of them, you just have to click on the corresponding line of the list.

The list of games can be sorted by any column, clicking with the left mouse button on the heading. If you click with the right button, the cursor moves inside the list until it encounters a different data to the one currently selected. Let's explain it further, since it's an advanced concept. Let's consider that the list contains games from several different events. After clicking with the right mouse button on the heading of the Event column, we will be taken directly to the first game of the next tournament and thus with every click we will be moving from tournament to tournament.

Access to the games databases. Opens up an auxiliary window in which you can work with the databases to select games, search for an specific position plus other useful functions.

Lessons under study. When you are registered to one or several courses, this button shows the lessons that have been activated for each course.

Auxiliary board (Blackboard.) Opens up an auxiliary window with a board and numerous tools. In this board one can move the pieces freely, by dragging them with the mouse, or setup a new position to be analized manually or with the help of the engine modules. It's possible to open up 4 auxiliary boards simultaneously.

Layout of the list of Elements. This button changes the disposition to the list of elements or games. Toggle between taking the full width of the lower part of the window or only the part under the board. When it takes the full width of the window it can show more columns of data, which is interesting if the PGN file contains several games. On the contrary, when dealing with a single magazine issue it's better to use the moder "under the board" that will show the same information, leaving more free space for the document.

Clock. Opens up a new window with a clock, that the student can use as reference during his work.

Print. Generates a report to be printed out (can also be saved into a local file) of the Element that it is being displayed. In case the elements are annotated games, the report can contain as many diagrams as needed, corresponding to the main line orsubvariants. To mark the reports to be included, before activating this option, one clicks with the right button of the mouse on the move after which a diagram should be included. The move will be marked in green or magenta if it is the current move. To get rid of all the diagrams marks, double click with the mouse in an empty space where the game is shown.

Display/ Hide. This button shows up only when you load certain games that have some areas intended to be temporarily hidden, mainly for trainning purposes. Pressing this button show or hides the corresponding part of the game. This button is handy for exercises and problems.

Piece set. Pressing this button changes the set of pieces, alternating among the three available types: Merida, County, InterAjedrez.

Change the font size. With each pressing of this button, the size increases until it returns to the smaller size. This only affects the font size for the annotated games.

Configuration options. Allows each user to modify, to a certain extent, the look & feel of the application. The most important use is, however, allowing to introduce data essential to gain access to certain services through Internet.

Register analysis modules (engines.) This button allows the user to configure different options required by the engines to work properly.
