Save & Edit games.
Using the viewer you can save & edit games. Pressing the button ( ) from the application's toolbar, takes you to edit mode. If a game was loaded at that moment, you can modify it, otherwise two different situations may arise:
  • If there is no position at all on the board, then you can enter the moves from the usual start position of a chess game with all pieces on their initial squares.
  • A position on the board was previously set, through the button ( ) from the main toolbar. Then the present position will be used as the starting position and you can enter the moves and later save them. To put the position on the clipboard, the "blackboard" is a good solution.

When the edit mode is active, an additional toolbar is visible at the right side of the board:

Using this toolbar you can make illustrations on the board that will be saved together with the game data. The two buttons in the lower part improve the presentation of the game when it is loaded adding the number to the moves.

Other series of changes are performed to improve the presentation when reading from a pgn file, as adding line feeds before and after variations, getting rid of sequences jumping inaccurately to the next line and so on. Once the game has been edited and saved those operations won't be necessary anymore.

To be able to add moves to the current game, the button ( ) must be enabled. It has to be noted that you need to press that button again once you have finished making illustrations with the graphical icons.

The new moves are added by simply dragging the pieces over the board. The comments are written in the usual way typing on the keyboard. A green cursor is shown to help you position on the exact place where you want to write.

The text cursor moves with the keyboard's arrow keys. It can occupy only text positions, you can never overwrite a move that was previously entered. The same goes for moves corresponding to variations.

To save the game, once you are satisfied with the changes you have made, first press again the button ( ) lo leave edit mode and then press the save button ( ).

You can click on the moves, as usual, only that it's the only way to change the board.

To add a new move, we click on the previous move and then make our move. If the previous move was the last in the current line, the new move is simply incorporated, otherwise we will be asked if we wish to create a new subvariation or overwrite the main line.

To delete a move and all remaining moves after it, we have to click the delete key while holding the Ctrl key.

The arrow keys move the cursor in the usual way, however, when moving up or down you may see a strange behavior because as we have said, the text cursor cannot occupy any position. The same can happen when moving left and right, because the cursor will jump over the moves that have been entered on the board.
The help Button ( ) located in the first position of the toolbar provides info on the different functions that can be accomplished with the keyboard:
