HTML contents.

The html contents, are one or several Web pages with annotated games. From a game in PGN format, the Viewer generates one or several "interactive" Web pages. When these pages are shown in the Viewer, the contents are synchronized with the graphical chess board, so that, by clicking on any move of the main line, or variations, the board reflects the corresponding position. In turn, when replaying the game through the scroll buttons located below the board, a cursor keeps indicating the current move on the Web document.

The procedure to generate HTML content, for a single page, is as follows:

You read the PGN file containing the game by pressing the buttonfrom the main toolbar.

You then press on the print buttonalso from the toolbar.

The preview window shows the game as an HTML document, which is not interactive yet.

In the toolbar for that window, click on the button "PGN embebido":

So that it changes from NO to SI.

The option "Font en jugadas:" that can be yes or no (SI or NO), signals if you wish that the HTML document uses the specification for that Font to display the moves of the game. If the content you want to generate is to be shown by the viewer, then you have to set it to NO. The Font specification makes the resulting file size to increase significantly and the viewing process by the viewer slows down. So it is unnecessary, since the viewer is ready to show the moves correctly, even though at the time of generating the page they are not displayed properly. However, if you intend to publish the game in a website, then it's necessary that "Font en jugadas:" be set to SI.

After setting up that option, click on the save button (). The save file is already in HTML format which the Viewer can read directly. If necessary, that file can be edited with any webpage editor to add images or any other web element.

From this same window you can create more complex HTML docs, mainly for website publication, rather than viewing through the Viewer. Starting from a PGN file with multiple games, or more PGN files, you can create a set of related pages consisting of a home page and several child pages, one for each game. The main page is part of a frameset layout, with two frames, in vertical or horizontal style.

In one of the areas, you can see a list of games to the right of a graphical chessboard, in the other area you see the game currently selected in the list above. The moves are in an interactive format, clicking on any of them jumps in the board to that exact moment in the game. Alternatively, replaying the moves by the arrow keys under the board makes the cursor moves too in the text of the game.

A nice possibility offered by the Viewer is to be able to process not only gamesin PGN format but also multimedia content. In this scenario, a multimedia player is included, as shown in the image below. There you watch video and listen to the audio as well.

The procedure is as follows:

  • You click on the button from the toolbar in the printing window.
  • This opens the file browser, where you search and mark the file or PGN files, or multimedia files.
  • The file selection is validated and then, automatically, the Viewer will process all of them, generating the set of necessary files.
