Allows each user to modify, to a certain extent, the look & feel of the application, an even certain ways of operation, but more importantly, this section allows the user to enter data essential to get access to a group of Internet based services.
When you press the ()
button from the toolbar, a new window pops up with a series of tabs.
Each tab groups together a set of related options. It's very important to know that any change in the options won't be applied until you press the OK button corresponding to the window where you are doing your modifications. If you leave the window pressing Esc or simply closing the window, all modifications you might have done will be lost.
The different tabs contain the following configurable parameters:
Access.
The Viewer has access to several Internet services, as courses and magazines, for which valid subscription credentials are needed. These credentials, together with the server and database name, define what we call a connection profile. You can define as many connection profiles as you need to connect to the different services to which you eventually subscribe. When you try to connect to one of those services clicking the button () of the toolbar, a submenu will show all the profiles that you have previously defined.
When you install the viewer, by default it comes with a valid profile to view for free the electronic magazine ChipChesst:

Every time you press on the New button, a new profile is created with the data taken from the different fields at that time. If you wish to edit the info of any profile stored in your preferences, just select it from the dropdown list, modify the data and press on the Edit button.
Sj. (Playing zone)
In this tab you can enter the required info to enter the online playing zone. You can setup different connection profiles to the different playing rooms, or for the same room, entering with different usernames.
Each connection profile consists of a set of data about the playing room, that you must get from a system administrator, plus your personal credentials, username and password.
As you can see in the image above, after installing the viewer, you will find preconfigured for you a connection profile to enter as guest to the online playing zone of InterAjedrez. Please note that the password is "Contrela." the same as the nickname.
Sp.
On this tab, you can configure the data required data to enter the Postal Rooms. This server data, grouped by connection profile, should be provided to you by a System Administrator except for you private Nickname and Password.
PC to PC.
Data in this tab is also organized as profiles. Each profile groups together the data required to establish a PC to PC connection. Basically you can enter a short string to name the connection, the server IP address and the port.
Layout.
Here you can control how the zone situated to the left of the board looks, the area where the game is being desplayed. The different tabs are related to the way in which the game is shown. You can set:
The font and the font size
Using figurine notation or not to show the moves.
If the game is annotated, and contains subvariations as well, you can separate them from the rest of the text, adding a blank line after or before the variations.
The improve option makes the Viewer to try to make some tightenings in the text of the game to improve the quality of the presentation on the screen.
You can also instruct the Viewer to emit a sound, or not, under certain circumstances.
It's possible to indicate to the Viewer that it should ignore all comments and variations that may come with a game, by marking NO in the option "Analysis."
Layout 2.
Can be used to personalize the look of the games text.
Various.
This tab contains numerous options dealing with graphical aspects of the chess board.
Databases.
For the Viewer to use the games and opening databases, you have to register them in advance, making use of the options provided in this tab. Registering consists of indicating the path from your local PC, where your book and database are, plus a user defined identifier that will allow us to remember each of the different items.
The record contains two identical sections, the one at the upper side corresponds to the opening books and the lower one to databases.
Endgames.
The Viewer can use the famous endgames tables. In this section, you can define where the required files are located in your PC.
Others.
The update option set the periodicity to check online for available updates.
The associated PGN files will modify the Windows register, son that the Viewer becomes to application that will handle the PGN files by default. In that way when you double click on any PGN file in Windows Explorer the Viewer will be launch showing those particular games.
Apart from the different tabs, the buttons allow you to save to a file the different modifications and later read them. Besides, these read & write operations include the engine definitions and his working options, through the icon .
This possibility of saving & recovering the configuration options is especially useful to upgrade to future newer versions. When a new version is installed, all the options get back to the factory default configuration, so before upgrading you can save your options with the button and restore them later after the new version has been installed with the button.
The () button resets the Viewer to it's original configuration, so any changes you may have made will be lost.
